EVEQ 2000

First Announcement

The fifth international summer school on evolution equations EVEQ 2000 will be held in Prague, Czech Republic in the week 3-7 July 2000 as a satellite conference to the 3rd European Congress of Mathematics (Barcelona, 10 - 14 July 2000).

There will be a series of invited lectures presented by the following scientists:

W. Arendt (Ulm): Parabolic equations and heat kernels: a functional approach by form methods
P. Holmes (Princeton): Two models from nonlinear optics
H. Kozono (Nagoya): Well-posedness of the Navier-Stokes equations
W.-M. Ni (Minneapolis): Diffusion and cross-diffusion in pattern formation
B. Perthame (Paris): Kinetic approach to first order conservation laws
P. Quittner (Bratislava): Global existence for semilinear parabolic problems

Although the main goal of the School are invited lectures, the organizers should like to encourage the participants to present their results in a written form on posters.

The School will take place at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the Charles University in Prague, Troja.

Registration:
The registration fee is fixed on 250,- USD (300,- USD after 15 April 2000).
The participants will be lodged in the Student Residence of Prague Troja (units of 2 double-bed rooms with joint bathroom and small kitchen). The price of the accomodation and meals (breakfast and lunch) is 20,-USD per day. A single room accommodation can be arranged at the additional supplement 10,-USD per day.

The payment should be made preferably by a single bank transfer to the account of the Institute of Mathematics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic

in western (convertible) currency not later than April 15,2000. Alternatively, a check can be sent directly to the contact address (see below). The participants are asked to write the complete account number (including the variable symbol) and the name of the bank in the payment order. Please, include also "the Institute of Mathematics AVCR" as the receiver institution.
To avoid any problems with the identification of your payment, we should appreciate a short e-mail message sent to the contact address.

All payments must be free of bank charges to the receiver, i.e. all bank charges for effecting the international money transfer must be met by the remitter.
